This global portrait project titled AGE began in Ireland where family roots run deep. In merging the disciplines of the human portrait and the nude, it was imperative to reformulate ideals of beauty by exposing the myths and misconceptions of aging.
Nell McCafferty has been an iconic figure in Ireland for the past three decades. A journalist, playwright, civil rights campaigner and feminist, she is one of Ireland’s most controversial and committed citizens. As she notes, “When I reached the age of 60, I went through a period of self loathing…When the call came from Danny, I decided to confront the evidence, get over myself, and join the tribe of elders…I am free now and back to where I once belonged – it’s the personality, stupid.”
