Outwin Boochever Portrait Competition Internship


The National Portrait Gallery Department of Painting and Sculpture is seeking an intern to work full time during the fall of 2011. The intern’s primary responsibility is to support the Portrait Gallery’s Outwin Boochever Portrait Competition 2013. The intern communicates by email or telephone with artists who have questions about the competition or entry process, which runs from September 1 through October 31, 2011. Additional responsibilities include supporting the curator and departmental program assistant with tasks related to the competition website, the online entry form, etc. The intern may also prepare materials and file them, research and answer public inquiries, research contemporary artists and their work, and research collections and possible acquisitions for the National Portrait Gallery.

Qualifications:
Applicants must have completed a BA/BS degree with a major or significant coursework in art history. The Outwin Boochever Intern must be available Monday to Friday, full time August 22 through December 16, 2011. Knowledge of contemporary art is useful. The intern must demonstrate communication skills, both verbal and written. Knowledge of Microsoft Office is essential. This position has been filled.

Stipend:
The Outwin Boochever Intern receives a $5,000.00 stipend, which is payable on a regular basis.

Terms Internship Is Available:
The Outwin Boochever Internship is full time Monday-Friday, August 22 through December 16, 2011.
