Calling All Teachers: Barack and Michelle Obama Teaching Posters

In honor of our 50th anniversary, The National Portrait Gallery is pleased to announce the creation of teaching posters of Kehinde Wiley’s portrait of President Barack Obama and Amy Sherald’s portrait of former First Lady Michelle Obama. The Portrait Gallery invites K-12 teachers to submit a request for these FREE teaching posters for classroom use. The mission of the Portrait Gallery, since our opening in 1968, is to tell the story of America by portraying the people who shape the nation’s history, development and culture. Making these portraits available to teachers across the country is a wonderful way to celebrate! The reverse of the poster includes information about the subject, the artist, the portrait, as well as observation and analysis questions, and extension activities.

These posters have been underwritten by a grant from Nancy Lee and Jonathan Kemper and The William T. Kemper Foundation.

Questions regarding your request should be directed to npgeducation@si.edu.
