Description
The National Portrait Gallery’s Director Marvin Sadik introduces Dr. Robert Moses for one of the first installments in the lecture series Living Self-Portraits - previously “Lecture Series.” Robert Moses was a public official working in the New York metropolitan area. Moses simultaneously held several titles including NYC Parks Commissioner and Chairman of the Long Island State Park Commission. Moses was said to be one of the most powerful individuals in the United States during his time as he forcfully shapped the urban landscape of New York while thumbing his nose at the political and economic elites. Moses humorously paints a portrait of his long career, beliefs, and those other powerful individuals he encountered with witty anecdotes in this lecture. Recorded March 6, 1978.
