Policies and Fees / Reproductions

The Office of Rights & Reproductions will be temporarily closed starting December 14, 2012 through June 2013. At this time please contact Art Resource for ALL reproduction requests. They can be reached at 212-505-8700 or at requests@artres.com . Requests for personal prints or research images will not be taken during this time or through Art Resource and will resume again in June 2013. Thank you for your patience during this time.

The National Portrait Gallery charges outside fees to organizations or individuals to use an image as determined by the nature of the use/product, not the user. The gallery reserves the right to deny permission to any request. The resulting funds are used to assist the institution to further its responsibility to care for collections, promote research, and educate the public.

The Gallery does not permit the use of color slides for reproduction or duplication.

Requests for fee reductions must be made in writing.
