Cover: On glossy, coated red paper, near the top edge, the magazine title, Comedy, in serif-style capitals, letters skewed in varying directions, is imprinted in white within a black rectangle, centered. Thin black lines extend from the rectangle to the left and right edges; volume one/ summer 1980 are situated above and below the line on the left and number one/ three dollars are in like position on the right.
In the lower half of the page, following five lines imprinted in mixed typographical styles and referring to the contents, is a square-shaped photographic representation of Groucho Marks, consisting of eyebrows, eyeglasses, nose and moustache. There is an additional line of type below the square.
The magazine articles are presented in black and white, with text accompanied by photgraphs or illustrations.
