GREY-WARE, MOLD-MADE, SPONDYLUS SHELL (SPONDYLUS PICTORUM) SHAPED VESSEL. THE SIDES ARE SCALLOPED, BEAD-LIKE SHAPES DECORATE THE BODY OF THE PIECE, AND THE NARROW NECK IS SHORT WITH AN OUTWARD-FLARING RIM. HAS ORIGINAL PEALE TAG, PAPER LABEL "#13". #13 PROBABLY REFERS TO HORATIO HALE'S ORIGINAL PACKING LIST (S.I. ARCHIVES NATIONAL INST. MSS. RECORD UNIT 7058). EXHIBITED MAGNIFICENT VOYAGERS, NATIONAL MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORY, 1985-86.
