Time’s cover story about Paul Newman ran just prior to the release of his forty-third movie, The Verdict (1982), in which he plays a drunken trial lawyer. The magazine asked: “Can a 57-year- old Westport, Conn., salad-dressing manufacturer find satisfaction as a hotshot race-car driver, successful political activist, prizewinning movie director, solid-state sex symbol, show-biz iconoclast and possibly the most commanding male presence in films during the past three decades?” “Yes!” if one reads the smile in those clear blue eyes portrayed in this cover image. And in 1987, upon his seventh nomination for Best Actor, Newman won an Academy Award for his performance as a hustling pool player in The Color of Money.
El artículo de Time sobre Paul Newman vio la luz antes del lanzamiento de su película número cuarenta y tres, The Verdict (1982), en la que interpreta a un abogado alcohólico.
