Richardson Symposium: New Perspectives on Portraiture. The symposium lectures are drawn from the new book, Beyond the Face: New Perspectives on Portraiture, which contains essays on topics such as the power dynamics between artists and sitters, the dissemination of images, and how portraiture has evolved over the years, among others. Kate Clark Lemay, Historian and Director of PORTAL, introduces the topics and speakers of the third session of New Perspectives on Portraiture. Session 3: Reassessing Subjectivity, presents case studies on how portraiture reflects the interiority and multi-dimensions of human relationships and human character.
