The National Portrait Gallery will host its annual Día de los Muertos celebration Nov. 2. The evening event will include Mexican folk-dance performances, workshops and a variety of art activities, such as creating calaveras (sugar skulls) and papel picado (perforated colorful banners). Open to all age groups, visitors will be invited to place artworks, photographs and other offerings on the community altar as a tribute to their loved ones. Admission is free.
At 6:30 p.m., artists MasPaz and Guache will project their live video artwork “PazHaremos: Celebrating life’s journey” on the outside of the museum building. The vibrant digital paintings will be accompanied by music.
