Dana Tai Soon Burgess, resident choreographer at the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery, will present a new modern dance entitled “Transformations,” which will conclude his residency at the museum. “Transformations” will be accompanied by one of Dane Rudhyar’s compositions, performed live by pianist Dana Scott. The costumes are designed by Native American fashion designer Patricia Michaels (Taos Pueblo).
Before the performances, Burgess will sign copies of his memoir Chino and the Dance of the Butterfly outside the museum’s gift shop, where it will be available for purchase.
